It is that time of year when many generous people in Chatham Kent put together a gift shoebox for children in West Coast Africa and Central America. Last year residents filled 2501 showboxes. With Covid -19 cases rising here in North America and around the world, the need is even greater this year. The drive will take place from Monday November 16th until Sunday November 22nd. Drop off centres are located at Gregory Drive Alliance Church in Chatham, Dresden Community Church and First Baptist Church in Wallaceburg. The drive is sponsored yearly by the Samaritan ‘s Purse organization.
The shoeboxes are filled with toys, personal hygiene items, and often school supplies. Some people even include family pictures to add a more personal touch for the recipient. More info is available on the organization’s website. Give generously if you are able. Chatham-Kent always comes through!
