Mercato Fresh Opening in Chatham-Kent a Huge Success

Mercato Fresh

New Grocery Store Model Mercato Fresh owned by Marc Romualdi and Jonathon Reaume of Windsor opened the doors at their new location on Friday February 14 at 8 A.M. The figures have not yet been released  but if the crowd and the line-ups at the checkout counters are any indication, it was an overwhelming success. The owners who have operated stores and restaurants in Windsor wanted to open a new grocery model. and Chatham is their proving ground. The new store is located in part of the former Target Store location on Grand Ave. West. Marc Romualdi is a third generation grocer and had worked in the business for about 33 years. His  M.R. Meat Market stores in Windsor opened 15 years ago. Jonathan Reaume is a red seal chef who owns Toscana Restaurant and Wine Bar in Windsor. They believe Chatham is a fast growing location and a good pick for their first new concept store. They are looking to expand to other locations in the future when Chatham proves the models viability.Mercato Market
Marcato has a restaurant inside the store. The owners wanted to make a cozy section where clients could sit and enjoy a cup of fine Ethiopian blend coffee or stop for lunch or dinner while working on their tablets or computers if needed. The space is equipped with full Wi-Fi. On this side of the store there is an extensive deli section complete with treats such as potato salad, tabbouleh and hummus made fresh for their clients enjoyment, a bakery and even 3 or 4 red seal chefs to help with questions on specific needs and diets.
They were giving out samples of their great specialties at the opening and I can personally say they were delicious.
The owners want the new store to be know for the quality and good prices of their products but especially for their superior service. There goal is one on one service and customer satisfactions.
My wife and I shopped at the store on Saturday and I can tell you they hit the nail on the head. I am a real fan of old fashioned service and I spoke to several of the staff while we were in the store. They all went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We even had a fun time with the gals at the checkout. I even offered my coat since the doors were continually open and they were a little cold. It did not, however, dampen their spirits in any way. I was a very welcoming atmosphere to shop, the prices and the quality were great and I especially have to comment on the meat department. We have not had a chance yet to sample what we purchased but the quality looks amazing and I am sure it will not disappoint.
Welcome to Chatham-Kent and to your new Thames Lea location and we wish you all the best. Chatham-Kent turned out for the opening and I am sure will continue to patronize this great new store.
