Erieau is holding “Art on the Boulevard” from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. and it is Celebration for Emancipation Day at the Josiah Hensen Museum of African-American History in Dresden from 11A.M -2 P.M. in Dresden.
Erieau is a beautiful resort on the shores of Lake Erie with a boulevard running down the centre of the Village. (at one time railway tracks)
This year marks the 15th year for this great event. If you have not attended before, this is the year to enjoy all the day has to offer. It will features 100 artists showing their wares of everything from metal works to a multitude of craft items. Food, music, shopping and even cottage tours. There are several restaurants in the village to visit and enjoy a meal and the Bayside Brewery to eat and sample their unique brews.
Josiah Hensen Museum of African-American History is celebrating Emancipation Day on Saturday August 1/2026. Emancipation Day commemorates August 1, 1834 when the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect freeing over 800,000 Africans and their descendants across the British Empire. The act ensured Canada as a free territory for enslaved people from the U.S.
This free event features music, live performances, guest speakers, food and fun for the whole family. Bring your lawn chairs.
