It is that time of year and here in Chatham-Kent, we are looking forward to a summer packed full of Classic Car Events. Residents and visitors alike come to Chatham-Kent to enjoy the spectacular lineup that take place each summer. Chatham-Kent is the Classic Car Capitol of Canada and lives up to its title every year, somehow getting better and better.
The first event to kick-off this season is Retrofest Weekend in Downtown Chatham which will take place the last weekend in May, May 24-26th. Tecumseh Park will open for activities at 3 P.M. on Friday the 24th. There will be vendors, activities, a beverage tent and live entertainment starting at 5:30 P.M. until 11 P.M. Saturday, the park will again be a hub of activity from 11 A.M. with live entertainment after 5 :30 again until 11 P.M.
Friday night. May 24th from 4 P.M.-8 P.M. there is a parking lot party at the Downtown Chatham Centre parking lot. As many as 650 cars have attended this Friday night kick-off in past years and it is a great time to wander around talking to the car owners about their price possessions and their cars history and enjoying seeing the wide variety of Classic vehicles all assembled in one location.
Saturday form 9 A.M. King St. will be closed off and the proud owners of the Classic Cars attending will line the street for spectators to enjoy viewing and meeting the owners. Awards are presented at 3 P.M.
Sunday May 26th from 1-5 P.M. Garden on King will have live music, Buskers and fun for all. Ticket are available.
